The Symfonisk Picture Frame, Ikea‘s most fashionable partnership with Sonos, has just become a little more fashionable with the introduction of three additional artistic panels.
The Swedish furniture manufacturer has presented a larger line of accessories in collaboration with nine South American creatives, which includes the trio of new “msesidig” panels.
Trini Guzmán of Chile, a muralist and artist, created two of the three new msesidig Symfonisk Picture Frame panels (see below), and Diana Ordóez of Colombia contributed a single design.
We are told that the Swedish word msesidig, which means “mutual,” denotes “the mutual eagerness to produce and learn from each other.”
The vivid carnival tradition in Diana Ordóez’s native country served as inspiration for the design.
She says, “The mask is a kind of garment that lets us be another character.
“The usage of masks at Colombian festivals allows people to express themselves and transform into various characters, such as monsters, bulls, cows, women, and men. The mask represents the various personalities we each have inside of us, in my opinion.”
The purpose of Guzmán’s designs is to highlight and appreciate the light and vitality in our houses.
Guzmán claims that when we give our homes to someone, we also open a portion of our hearts.
“We share more of our tales and intimacy when we open up our home and the things we use every day to surround us. I wanted to create items with this collection that invite consumers to color, cut, and otherwise alter the items that will become a part of their homes, celebrations, and tales in order to express their own creativity.”
Whilst it’s not much to say, the designs are undoubtedly the greatest panels we’ve seen for the Frame thus far (unless you really love leopards or horses, that is).
There is presently no information available on pricing, however given that Ikea is currently offering its animal print collection for the Frame for $30, we can assume it will be in a similar range.
We do know that the msesidigSymfonisk Picture Frame panels, which are part of a selection of 30 items that also includes rice paper lampshades and table setting garlands, will be available for purchase starting next month.
