Insta360 launches Flow

A smartphone gimbal with advanced AI tracking capabilities

Although Insta360 has established itself as the industry standard for 360-degree cameras, it is now focusing on other areas.

When the business unveiled its Link webcam last year, it caught us off guard and immediately rose to the top of our list of recommendations.

These lessons are now being used by Insta360 to something considerably more transportable. The Insta360 Flow is here.

It’s a tripod and selfie stick-equipped 3-axis smartphone gimbal that doubles as a power bank.

The transparent plastic parts from the 1990s that reveal a sleek black PCB underneath give it a Nothing Phone aesthetic.

The design is incredibly smart, as we’ve come to expect from Insta360, and the fact that the tripod legs can extend from the body is a lovely piece of design.

A magnetic clamp device, resembling the one on the DJI Osmo Mobile 6, is utilized to secure your phone.

“For our first smartphone gimbal, we wanted a device that goes beyond the basic functionality of a gimbal and offers a whole new way to film moments on your smartphone. Powered by our AI technology, honed over years of research and development, Flow tracks, stabilizes and edits content for you,” said JK Liu, founder of Insta360.

The software side of Insta360 never fails to please, which is a significant factor in why its 360 cameras are so well-liked. With this new gimbal, we have high hopes that it will provide the same wonderful experience.

The company has made a big deal out of its AI tracking powers, and if the Link webcam is any indication, we may anticipate incredibly precise subject identification. Another feature that worked well on the Link is the gimbal’s support for gesture controls.

The Flow offers an Auto Mode for beginners that guarantees shake-free shots by automatically adjusting gimbal settings based on the user’s motions. Nonetheless, complete manual controls are easily accessible with the SmartWheel on the front if you have more gimbal experience.

Of course, the model also comes with all the standard gimbal functions. You can make dolly zooms, panos, hyperlapses, and motion timelapses.

With a 12-hour battery life, the Insta360 Flow should easily get you through a full day of photography.

It costs $159.99 and includes a magnetic phone clip, charging cord, protective pouch, and grip cover as standard accessories. There are two color options available: Summit White and Stone Gray.

Separately sold are a spotlight for night shooting and ornamental inserts for customization.
