OLED MacBook Air is expected to launch in 2024

It appears that the little MacBook Air is about to undergo some significant upgrades. The MacBook Air received a significant update in 2022, with a completely new design that did away with the wedge, added the notch, and included some additional ports. Also, there are rumors of a larger, 15-inch variant that will be released this year. Nevertheless, according to a recent source, an intriguing display improvement for laptops is in the pipeline.

The Elec reports that Samsung has started producing a 13-inch OLED panel for the next-generation MacBook Air. This implies that a laptop with an updated OLED screen will be released in the future. Previous leaks on the device have included a timeline, however this current rumor doesn’t. Apple intends to begin shipping the new OLED MacBook Air by the end of 2024, according to reliable leaker Ming-Chi Kuo, who spoke about this earlier in the year.

Wait just a moment. Does Samsung make the panel? That’s right. Apple still depends on partners for some parts, such as the displays, even though it manufactures the majority of the iPhone’s components. Apple handed the ball over to Samsung this time, rather than LG, who typically handles MacBook displays. OLED panels for iPads are currently being produced by LG at capacity.

It makes sense for the MacBook Air to have an OLED display. In this regard, the device would be similar to practically every other screen-equipped Apple device. OLED panels produce their own light, therefore the laptop’s display will be brighter and more accurate in terms of color. But the news isn’t all good. A higher price will probably be associated with a superior display. We’ll just have to wait till 2024, for the time being.
