Leica Q3

Since its release in 2015, the Leica Q series has gained a devoted following thanks to its elegant design, simple operation, and top-notch craftsmanship. Street, travel, and everyday photographers all around the world have come to love the fixed focal length full-frame compact camera. The Leica Q3 builds on the achievements of its predecessors and promises superb photo and video quality in addition to a host of brand-new capabilities.

The Leica Q3 is the most recent camera to include Leica’s newest BSI-CMOS sensor, which incorporates Triple-Resolution-Technology and offers consumers a choice of three resolutions: 60, 36, or 18 megapixels, all of which utilize the entire width of the sensor. While choosing 36 or 18 megapixels gives faster operation, longer continuous shooting, smaller file sizes, as well as a minor gain in dynamic range, the 60-megapixel resolution offers the finest details for large prints and screens. The Leica Q3 is powered by the most recent Maestro Series processor with L2 Technology and offers an ISO sensitivity range of 50 to 100,000.

The Leica Q3 offers an improvement for content creators as well; it can capture videos in 8K resolution and internally supports codecs like H.265 and Apple’s ProRes. The Q3 has HDMI and USB-C connectors that can be used to connect to other devices, including gimbals, battery banks, and display recorders. The USB-C port also supports tethered shooting.

The Leica Summilux 28mm f/1.7 ASPH. lens is fixed, but at 28mm, it provides a naturally wide and adaptable perspective, suited for a variety of subjects, along with a wide f/1.7 aperture for low light ability and lovely background blur. For close-up images, the lens also has an incorporated macro mode with a minimum focusing distance of 17 cm.

The Q3 includes an expanded digital zoom, driven by the new 60-megapixel sensor, allowing users to record cropped images at focal lengths of 28mm, 35mm, 50mm, 75mm, and now 90 mm. Leica Dynamic Range (LDR) and Leica Perspective Control (LPC), two additional capabilities, can help create high dynamic range JPEG photographs without the need for post-processing by helping to straighten buildings and other perspective irregularities.

The Leica Q3’s autofocus technology has undergone major upgrades. The hybrid autofocus technology now includes phase detection to guarantee accurate focus and quick object tracking. The Leica Q3 can now distinguish human bodies, faces, and eyes in addition to tracking and identifying animal subjects thanks to its improved subject recognition technology.

The Q3 has a brand-new 5.76-megapixel OLED composing viewfinder. The Leica Q3 now has a 3-inch high-resolution touchscreen that can be tilted from the back. For difficult-to-reach viewing angles and more creative options for both photographs and films, use the tilting mechanism. With IP52 certification, which guards against dust and water sprinkling, the camera retains its endurance.

With the special certified “Made for iPhone and iPad” cable, Bluetooth, WiFi, or the Leica Photos app, the Q3 is now more convenient than ever to connect to, and the transfer speed has increased by up to 10 times over the Q2 as well. On the app, unique Leica “looks” may be instantly applied to images to give them a distinctive look.

Along with the Q3, a variety of accessories are also being released. The newly created BC-SCL6 battery for the Leica Q3 and other Qi-compatible devices may be wirelessly charged thanks to the new Leica Charging Pad and separate camera handgrip. There will also be the typical assortment of chic Leica-branded accessories, such as leather half cases, thumb rests that match the camera’s color, and soft-release buttons.
