The new Mini 2 SE drone from DJI, which offers a few improvements over the company’s current entry-level drone, is what the rumors about its release were true. The Mini 2 SE is notable for having DJI’s proprietary OcuSync 2.0 transmission mechanism, which allows the drone to effectively fly more than twice as far as the original Mini SE. The “Enhanced WiFi” technology on that model has a maximum range of 4 kilometers. Additionally, the new method ought to maintain a more steady video feed across longer distances. Having said that, the value of OcuSync 2.0 may not be as great as the statistics indicate. With a UAV as small as the Mini 2 SE, you’ll likely lose sight of it long before you get the chance to fly it 10 kilometers away, which is required by the majority of governments.
Additionally, DJI claims that the Mini 2 SE can fly for 31 minutes on a single battery charge, an incremental improvement over the maximum flying time of 30 minutes for the prior model. The Mini 2 SE is essentially identical to the model it will replace save from those modifications. That may or may not be a good thing. Because the Mini 2 SE weighs less than 249 grams, like its predecessor, you are not needed to register it with the FAA. The outdated but still functional camera technology from the Mini SE is also carried over into the new drone. It has a three-axis gimbal and a 1/2.3-inch CMOS sensor with 2.7K video and 12-megapixel still image capture capabilities.
Next month, the DJI Mini 2 SE will be available for $369. Along with selling the drone separately, DJI will also sell the Mini 2 SE as a part of a “Fly More Combo” package for $519, which includes extra batteries, replacement propellers, and a carrying case.
