Renders just released give us a glimpse of what Apple’s upcoming smartphone may look like.
Even though the iPhone 15 isn’t scheduled to be released for another six months, the first artist renderings of the upcoming line of Apple devices are already starting to surface. The idea of what these may mean for the actual phone is actually fascinating to those of us who love photography, despite all the stories we have heard.
The adoption of a USB-C port and the promise of curvier contours are just the beginning… Concept designer Ian Zelbo’s 3D renderings, which were obtained by 9to5Mac, demonstrate how large the iPhone 15 Pro’s back camera hump will most likely be. Also, those triple lens peaks appear to be HUGE!
According to the website, these creative depictions are “based on a CAD model that a reputable case manufacturer sent to 9to5Mac…CAD files similar to those on which these images are based are distributed by Apple to companies in Asia in order to create phone cases before launch. This will guarantee that there are cases available when the device debuts. The exact CAD in question originates from a Chinese manufacturer that appears to be the first to get these files. Since having inaccurate ones would be expensive for case designers and factories, historically, CAD files are accurate to the final item in terms of both dimensions and design “.
But until the phones are actually introduced, most likely in September, we won’t actually know whether these are real.
It is less surprising that the rear camera unit would grow, though, given rumors that the iPhone will get a new Sony sensor and could include a periscope lens. But presumably it means better pictures are on the horizon, especially since the new sensor is touted to have a wider dynamic range and less noise. You could also require deeper pockets!
