The 2023 Samsung Galaxy Unpacked event is quickly approaching. The centrepiece of the company’s product announcements at this conference will be the Galaxy S23 series of next-generation flagship smartphones. Here is a summary of the Galaxy S23 Ultra, the highest-end model in the lineup.
Design & Display
The Galaxy S23 Ultra is anticipated to have a look that is very similar to the Galaxy S22 Ultra. In other words, it will have squared-off corners as opposed to rounded ones. The rear will sport vertically stacked cameras with the Samsung logo on the bottom half and a little hump on the top half. The front, meanwhile, will have a large display with thin bezels on all sides and a punch-hole selfie camera positioned in the middle.
According to rumors, the Galaxy S23 Ultra will have a tall 6.8 inch AMOLED screen. According to reports, this panel will have a QHD+ (3,088 x 1,440) resolution and an LTPO-enabled dynamic refresh rate that may range from a high of 120Hz to even as low as 1Hz. One of the Galaxy S23 Ultra’s standout features is its display, which is said to have a high peak brightness of 2,000 nits, which is more than the 1,750 nits provided by its predecessor. Additionally, this panel will feature Corning’s Gorilla Glass Victus 2.
Specifications
The Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC from Qualcomm will be found in Qualcomm’s 2023 flagship smartphone, the Galaxy S23 Ultra. 256GB, 512GB, or 1TB of internal storage will be combined with either 8GB or 12GB of RAM in this processor. The well-known Galaxy S series of flagship smartphones from the South Korean tech titan are normally introduced in two variations. For the US and South Korean markets, one version included the Qualcomm Snapdragon chipset, while the Exynos SoC was typically shipped to the rest of the world. It appears, though, that the company will only make one Snapdragon-only version of the product.
The phone will reportedly be backed by a huge 5,000mAh battery pack that can enable wired fast charging up to 45W, wireless charging up to 10W, and even reverse wireless charging. However, it is strange given that the wireless charging rate seems to have decreased from the 15W that the Galaxy S22 Ultra supported. The under-display ultrasonic fingerprint scanner, Bluetooth 5.3, Wi-Fi6E, UWB, and even NFC support are further noteworthy features. One UI 5.1, which is based on Android 13 OS, will also come preinstalled on the Galaxy S23 Ultra.
Camera
The business is putting a lot of effort into enhancing the photographic skills of its forthcoming flagship phone in addition to the display. While other speculations indicate that the primary sensor’s low light performance would also noticeably increase, the enhancements are reportedly tied to the zoom lens, which will ostensibly give higher quality. In case you weren’t aware, the Galaxy S23 Ultra has a quad camera configuration. The main camera is a large 200 megapixel ISOCELL HP2 sensor that supports OIS and can record at up to 8K HD at 30 frames per second.
This sensor is coupled with a 12 megapixel ultra-wide angle lens with a 120 degree field of view and an f/1.4 aperture, a 10 megapixel telephoto lens with a 3x optical zoom and OIS support, and a final 10 megapixel periscope telephoto lens with an up to 10x optical zoom and an f/4.9 aperture. On the other side, a 12 megapixel selfie camera with HDR will be located on the front.
